How We Managed Cycle Manufacturing Process in ERPNext V16
A real-world implementation walkthrough — from Sales Order to finished goods delivery — using ERPNext's powerful manufacturing module.
Introduction
In this tutorial video, we walk through a complete, real-world implementation of a Simple Cycle Manufacturing process inside ERPNext V16. Rather than teaching theory in isolation, we show exactly how each step flows from one to the next — starting with a customer's Sales Order and ending with the final delivery of finished cycles.
ERPNext is one of the most capable open-source ERP systems available today, offering a powerful Manufacturing module that rivals expensive proprietary solutions like SAP. For businesses in Bangladesh and beyond, it represents a cost-effective way to bring structure, traceability, and efficiency to the shop floor.
What This Tutorial Covers
The entire process is broken down into a clear, logical sequence. Here is the manufacturing workflow we implemented step by step:
Sales Order
The process begins when a customer places an order. We create a Sales Order in ERPNext that triggers the entire downstream manufacturing and delivery chain.
Bill of Materials (BOM)
Before production can start, a Bill of Materials is defined — listing every raw material, component, and quantity required to manufacture one finished cycle unit.
Work Order
Based on the BOM, a Work Order is raised. This schedules the actual production, assigns resources, and tracks progress on the factory floor.
Material Transfer & Stock Entry
Raw materials are transferred from the warehouse to the Work-in-Progress (WIP) location. ERPNext logs every movement, giving you full inventory visibility.
Production & Manufacture Entry
Once production is completed, a Manufacture Stock Entry is recorded — converting raw materials into finished goods and updating stock automatically.
Delivery Note & Final Dispatch
The finished cycles are dispatched to the customer with a Delivery Note — completing the loop from Sales Order to delivery in one connected system.

Why ERPNext for Manufacturing?
Many small and medium-sized manufacturers in Bangladesh still manage production through spreadsheets or manual records. This leads to inaccurate stock counts, delayed orders, and poor visibility into actual production costs. ERPNext solves all of these problems in one integrated platform.
Benefits of using ERPNext for manufacturing
- End-to-end traceability from raw material to finished product
- Automatic inventory updates — no manual stock counting required
- Real-time production status and Work Order tracking
- Linked financials — COGS and inventory valuation happen automatically
- 100% open-source — no expensive licensing fees
- Works for small factories as well as large production facilities
